Easy Tips for Organizing Your Book Shelves
I am always looking for more storage space! When I saw this cabinet/buffet at HomeGoods, not only did it look great, I knew it would also provide me with much needed storage. It is a classic piece of furniture that can be useful in multiple areas of my home. I also found this beautiful carved wood medallion at HomeGoods and I love the way it looks above the shelves.
I love to have flexible furniture pieces because I tend to move my furniture around a lot. For now it's in my family room. It will be fabulous for my collection of coffee table books. I want storage for my books, but of course I want it done in an appealing way.
I like to work with a clean slate, so the first thing I do is move everything off the shelves.
Next I add my books. I find that stacking the books vertically and horizontally adds interest. If you find that the book jacket colors look too busy, you can turn the books around for a uniform look. You can also stack books of the same color together. I donโt like to cram the books in so I leave some space open on the shelves.
Then the fun part, adding decor and art! Since itโs spring Iโm displaying โspringtimeโ accessories. Since my books are colorful enough Iโm keeping my decor accessories white and gold.
For an unexpected surprise and to create even more interest I put in framed artwork.
To decorate the top of the cabinet, I continued the book theme. A couple of matching lamps would also be pretty, but since I have a floor lamp right next to this piece I went with fresh blooms and plant stems for spring.
This functional piece of furniture will be fun to decorate seasonally! Now I have my book collection organized and displayed beautifully.
