It’s already time for Thanksgiving! Time moves so quickly in the fall. Honestly my mind right now is on planning where to put the Christmas tree this year. But I do love Thanksgiving and the gathering of family and friends. The feelings of gratitude and all the blessings in my life. I especially look forward to the celebration of food at Thanksgiving. I enjoy all the old family favorite recipes that are only made on this day. I focus all my decorating efforts on the Thanksgiving table and the menu for this special day.

Thanksgiving is also the perfect time for reflection. I grew up in Southern California and remember many Thanksgivings wearing shorts and playing tag football with my brothers. My mom complained it was too hot to roast the turkey indoors and began the tradition of baking the bird on the grill outside. I’m living in a cooler coastal climate now; but treasure those fun warm family Thanksgivings memories of my youth.

I like the natural texture of stonewashed linen for my table cloth. It creates the perfect neutral back drop.

White textured plates are the best choice for simple elegance!

My blush glassware rimmed in gold is a refreshing pop of color on this table.

One of my favorite things I like about fall is the natural beauty of the season. So I made a deliberate nod to fall using pumpkins and pine cones in my centerpiece. The white pumpkins I had used on my fall mantel were carved into vases for a varied assortment of flowers. I love these blush roses. They add an effortless beauty to the rest of the seasonal mums in this flower arrangement.

I bought these Thanksgiving embroidered napkins last year at HomeGoods. They dress up the table nicely. I felt that the refined appearance of candlesticks were a must for this tablescape.

The burlap utensil holders add so much natural texture in this tablescape. It also allows me to express words that define this season. I’ve written different words for each one: Gather, Family, Friends, Pumpkins, Latte and Harvest.

I confess, as much as I love baking, we get our Thanksgiving pumpkin pie from Costco. However I still like to bake something for Thanksgiving weekend, and this year it’s a fabulous Caramel Apple Pound Cake. It’s filled with chopped apples and cinnamon then topped with caramel cream cheese frosting and nuts! Delicious!
