Easy Backyard Entertaining
If you're like me, now that's it's summer you want to spend as much time outside as possible, especially when I'm entertaining. This month it's my turn to host my book club meeting. Every 2 months we get together for a used book exchange and lunch. It's a great excuse to get together, exchange books, and catch up. When you're the hostess you also pick the book category. To no one's surprise I chose the category of home decor. The book exchange is fun but what we love more than anything is the chance to get together and share an afternoon full of stories, support, and friendship. Since my turn to host falls in summer we are going outside for easy backyard entertaining.
It is so easy to set up a beautiful buffet table when using these gorgeous MacKenzie-Childs serving pieces! I love the classic Courtly Check pattern. It looks appropriate inside a formal dining room or outside for a casual gathering.
This Courtly Check enamel Everything Bowl is perfect for everything! Right now it's perfect to hold a few bottles of iced wine.
I love using trays. This Courtly Check Rattan & Enamel Tray is large enough to save me trips in and out of the kitchen. It's also so decorative! I found these bright summery Kate Spade napkins at HomeGoods. Aren't they perfect for summer parties?!
Even for simple events I like my friends to feel special. I want my guests to feel appreciated and worth the extra effort (because they are worth it). These stemless glasses are the gorgeous extra touch I love! Beautiful butterflies fluttering around the glass add that perfect special touch.
One of my favorite things to eat are roasted beets. So I tossed salad greens, fresh roasted beets, feta cheese, chopped almonds and a balsamic vinaigrette for a delicious light salad.
The cupcakes are a combination of yummy flavors - vanilla cake filled with raspberry jam and frosted with lemon buttercream.
Candles add a special vibe, even on an outside table. These candles also reinforce the black and white theme I started with the Courtly Check enamel ware.
I always like fresh flowers. The fragrant purple stock mixed with green hydrangea stems and tiny white flowers look so colorful on the table.
Thank you so much for stopping by, I really appreciate you being here. I hope you have a beautiful summer outside filled with entertaining friends and family! ~xoxoJoan
