Home for the Holidays Blog Tour 2 Ladies & A Chair Style
Welcome! Thank you for stopping by my home for the holidays blog tour 2 Ladies & A Chair style. Hello to all of you who are coming to visit from the talented designer Oscar and his beautiful home at Oscar Bravo Home. A special thank you to my friend Janine at Happy Happy Nester who is hosting this Christmas holiday tour! But now let's get started on seeing Christmas decor! Grab a cup of coffee, settle in and relax. Enjoy Home for the Holidays Blog Tour!
I love this time of the year! It means so much being in my home for the holidays. There are so many reasons I look forward to this time of year. The colder climate means boots, sweaters, and cozy nights by the fireplace. I love the colorful Christmas lights, trees, decor, and the music! Usually the day after Thanksgiving I start playing Christmas music - but my favorite thing about Christmas is the celebration of family and friends gathering together!
My problem with decorating for Christmas is that I love all Christmas decor! My Christmas home decor is a combination of old and new, traditional and trendy. A bit of a hodge-podge really. I grew up in LA and as the saying goes, 'You always want what you don't have', for me that meant a 'white Christmas'. So my Christmas decor tends to be frosty white trees, faux snow, and anything else that conjures up the image of a 'White Christmas'. Above all else I strive for a homey, cozy, comfortable vibe where all my friends and family feel welcome!
The entryway that greets my family and friends is in the traditional style. Red, plaids, and nostalgia surround the entry table. The flocked urn trees are all decked out with plaid ornaments, folksy deer, and mini lanterns. It's the perfect spot for displaying Christmas cards.
My front room is the best place for our Christmas tree! At night it beautifully lights up the window. In here the ornaments are all shimmering golds, champagne, silver, and copper. We use this room a lot more when it's decorated for the holidays. I love these giant furry snowball wreaths from HomeGoods. So much fun. Of course I had to light the scene with mini fairy lights. So pretty at night!
A special thanks to King of Christmas for this gorgeous king flocked 7.5 foot tree and tree skirt! In 5 minutes I had it out of it's box and fully assembled. Since it came with lights I was ready to decorate in no time. That's a huge plus for me. I think it's a beautiful tree.
The dining room has a definite woodsy, deer theme to it. The settee is flanked by antique green trees I found at the flea market. I like to mix old with new; these new gold ornaments really stand out on the antique trees. Giant glittered pine cones unifies this motif. I found these holiday crackers at HomeGoods and thought they would be a festive, fun touch for the table. Since I have faux fur everywhere else in the house why not the dining room table?
The bar cart this Christmas is dressed up for fun! The white skinny tree holds some of my most treasured antique ornaments. I remember being a little girl and going to my grandma's house on Christmas Eve. I loved my grandma's fake silver tinsel tree with pink, silver, and blue ornaments! I'm so happy to have some of her ornaments to put on my tree. I think my grandma gave me my love of all things that sparkle and shine. So this bar cart vignette is full of nostalgia: a special tribute to my grandma. She would love it!
In the family room the fireplace is center stage. There is so much activity in this room that I've kept the decor simple and natural around the fireplace. Just greens, whites, sparkles, and lights!
The whole family room is in whites, greys, golds, and silvers. The most predominant theme would be comfy, cozy fur! This room invites you to sit down, cozy up, and stay awhile. The perfect spot for Christmas movie viewing!
My kitchen is a complete mess during the holidays, and I love it this way. There is always someone wanting to make Christmas cookies or hot chocolate or popcorn. In the kitchen we like to gather around the table with a fondue pot of bubbling cheeses. Another favorite of ours at Christmas is a fresh crab feast! Piles of newspaper on the table, cracked crab, and melted butter!
For the bedroom this year I piled on the cozy comfort! Lots of layers in linen, velvet, silk, and faux fur. The perfect spot to relax at the end of a busy day.
