Feb 11 Painting the mantel with a color chosen by our followers!

OK. By popular demand the mantel has been painted! Let’s start from the beginning……We recently decided to update and refresh the family room. It was painted a nice tan color called Star In The Garden with bright white trim and the mantel was bright white as well. Then the new paint went up….a beautiful soft creamy white …Benjamin Moore Linen White…and the new trim color will be a grayish white called Benjamin Moore Dove White.

Then I started thinking maybe the Dove White on the mantel would be too stark. We are big fans of Annie Sloan Chalk Paint, and an even bigger fan of her color French Linen. It's a taupe/grey color that looks gorgeous next to black or anything else.

So decisions decisions…..???? We went back and forth and couldn't decide...so we turned to our terrific followers on Instagram. We did a poll, Dove White vs. French Linen. We thought they would be happy to help with our decision….and of course they didn't disappoint us!!! Overwhelming numbers voted to go for the French Linen, and so we did!

So here it is, the mantel painted. We actually did a 2:1 of French Linen mixed with Annie’s Old White to add a little extra creaminess. A coat of clear wax finished it.
