A Harvest of Color and Texture.........
Autumn. I love autumn. The peaceful summer days are behind us and the fall brings with it a faster pace. Kids go back to school, days get shorter, and our social calendars are filled up till January. As the air cools we seem to quicken our pace, organizing for the busy holiday season ahead.
As we bring out our cozy sweaters and comfortable boots it is time to change our home's wardrobe as well. It is so easy to bring autumn into our homes. Look at the harvest for inspiration in layering rich colors into your space.
Pears, pumpkins, squashes, beets, apples and berries. The autumn palette has more depth of color with beautiful shades of red, orange and golden yellow. They add so much warmth for the cold days ahead.
Another essential element in warming up your home are textiles.
Rich patterns. Tweeds, leather, wool, sheepskin, paisley, and kilim. I also love a little sparkle, it looks so pretty in fire or candle light. These colorful textured fabrics seem to warm the home as the weather starts turning cool.
Nothing is easier than being creative with fallen leaves and branches.
Find a way to bring natural textures inside such as: wooden bowls filled with nuts or pine cones, branches, and harvested fruits from farmers' market.
The warmth of a fire in the fireplace and the glow of candlelight give the final touch to your autumnal display.
